Natel Energy Continues Growth Trajectory Bringing On Chief Financial Officer Kizzie Brown

July 5, 2022

ALAMEDA, Calif. – July 5, 2022 – This spring, Natel Energy, a water and energy company focused on river restoration, FishSafe hydropower, and progressive environmental intelligence software, continued its expansion and upward trajectory in the clean energy space with the addition of new Chief Financial Officer, Kizzie Bozeman Brown.

Brown, a 25-year finance industry veteran with degrees from Howard University and Harvard Business School, brings a wealth of experience that spans corporate finance and investment banking. She has had management and leadership roles at large global organizations as well as at small and mid sized emerging growth venture companies. Most recently, Brown has been focused on the renewable energy space, supporting operations and financial structuring in Solar. Now, Brown is poised and ready to make waves with the potential she sees in the growing hydropower market.

“We are thrilled to have Kizzie join the Natel team as CFO,” said Gia Schneider, co-founder, and CEO of Natel Energy. “Kizzie’s impressive financial background and proven success working with renewables are key as we continue to grow and expand our hydropower and environmental intelligence platforms on a global level. Furthermore, her commitment to non-profit efforts in the community is in lockstep with the culture we work hard to cultivate.”

The Alameda, CA-based company has been in growth mode over the past six months, expanding both the size of its team and also its global footprint as it prepares to install its first FishSafe hydro turbine in Europe this summer. The company’s restorative approach to hydropower — that is, improving the waterways where they operate by leveraging AI-powered streamflow forecasts, safe fish passage, and nature-based solutions to stabilize river banks, restore groundwater, or increase habitat — is being lauded within the industry as more and more utility companies, non-powered dam owners and developers seek improved environmental outcomes and look for new technology that can more responsibly generate clean energy, improve water management, and reduce risk.

Natel was also recently recognized by Fast Company and its World Changing Ideas Awards for the creation of the company’s in-house fish testing laboratory, helping Natel and its scientific partners like Pacific Northwest National Labs (PNNL) gather critical data that informs the development of their growing hydro turbine business and setting a new benchmark for fish safety in the hydropower industry.
